Most leaders never stop to think about how they’re actually using their power.

This is the practice that will change your leadership.

Every week, spend 15 minutes reflecting on how you used your power. Your influence. Your authority.

Not in the big moments. In the everyday moments. The conversations. The decisions. The feedback. The opportunities you created or didn’t create.

This practice does something remarkable. It creates awareness. And awareness is the first step toward change.

Here’s how to do it.

The Weekly Reflection Framework

Monday morning preparation (2 minutes):
Set an intention for how you want to use your power this week. How do you want people to feel because of how you led them?

Daily micro-reflection (2 minutes):
At the end of each day, notice one moment where you used your power well and one moment where you could have used it better.

Sunday evening deep reflection (15 minutes):
Ask yourself the big questions. Write your honest answers.

How did I use my influence this week?
Did I empower people or control them?
Whose voice did I expand? Whose voice did I shrink?
What was I protecting? What was I building?
How did my power serve other people?
What would I do differently if I could do it again?

Then do the important part: Choose one shift for next week.

Take out time to implement what you just read. Start this Sunday.
